Giovanardi punished after Jackson clash

Fabrizio Giovanardi had to suffer more than the embarrassment of a non-points finish in race three at Rockingham, after receiving an official reprimand and a 2 point endorsement on his racing licence for contact with Mat Jackson.

Mat Jackson went on to finish fifth, ending a record run of eight consecutive podium’s for the Racing Silverline driver.

Mat Jackson was disappointed to have also missed out on a race two win to team mate Plato.

Mat said of the weekend:
“It was disappointing not to win race two but at least I kept up my run of podiums and Jason maximised his points,” said Mat. “The final race of the day was something of a bun fight. Once I’d been pushed off the red mist fell and I fought back to fifth which was good, but I think I could have had another podium.”

Mat Jackson lies fourth in the standings, a great acheivement after missing the first race and after early season woes – though he’s too many points behing team mate Jason Plato to be able to pass him (as he did in the season finalé last year) – he will need to defend that position from VX Racing driver Matt Neal – who now lies in fifth after a torrid second half to the season.
