RAC to continue, but only as co-sponsor
WSR will continue to enjoy RAC backing in 2010, but only in a co-sponsor capacity it was revealed today. Despite Colin Turkington winning the BTCC title in a Team RAC BMW 320si, RAC are stepping back to co-sponsors of the outfit, with the team, for now, to be known once again as West Surrey Racing.
“We are excited about continuing our association with WSR for 2010, and helping them to retain the Independent Teams title for a unprecedented fourth successive year” said Kerry Gazzard, RAC Sponsorship and PR Consultant.
“Our relationship with West Surrey Racing has been extremely successful both commercially and on track for the past four seasons, and to win the title last season was a fitting climax to our title sponsorship.”
With the official BTCC website revealing last week that a second WSR car would be unveiled at the Autosport International on Thursday show by champ Turkington, speculation has been rife that this could see the announcement of a new title sponsor and livery for the team.
Today’s announcement by RAC heightens the likelihood that Thursday’s unveiling will be along these lines.
