Alan Gow dismisses Abarth entry

IF Motorsport announced their intent to enter a pair of Abarth Grande Punto in the British Touring Car Championship 2010. But seemingly it will not happen as series boss Alan Gow dismisses the car as not eligible.
“Nobody, from any team, has contacted TOCA and enquired about entering a Fiat Punto (of any model) in the BTCC,” wrote on the forum of the official series website.

“So I’m rather bemused to be reading about such a ‘project’.”

The team stated in Autosport that they intended to build the car according to the new NGTC regulations.

But according to Mr Gow, that is impossible.

“However let me just clarify something. The car would certainly not be eligible – under either the current or the new BTCC (NGTC) regulations – as it doesn’t even come close to meeting the minimum dimensions.

“It’s simply not ‘Grande’ enough…”
