Ginetta champ to earn Vectra test

The winner of this year’s BTCC supporting Ginetta Junior Championship will have the chance to test Eurotech’s Vauxhall Vectra. The champion will be offered the chance to sample Andrew Jordan’s NGTC powered Vectra as part of a days one-to-one tuition from Jordan himself.

“The chance to test a BTCC car is a phenomenal prize,” said Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson. “We’re proud to be able to offer this in association with Andrew, Mike and Eurotech. The combination of the Jordan’s sheer racing experience, coupled with their new high-powered Vectra, means that this is a huge incentive for all Ginetta Junior competitors to go all out for the championship.”

Eurotech boss and former BTCC racer Mike Jordan hopes that the prize can help another young driver on their way in motorsport.

“I’m delighted to be cementing our incredibly strong relationship with Lawrence and the Ginetta team” said Jordan.

“I have been a long time supporter of Ginetta’s championships – Andrew had a G20 when he was 15, before the days of the Ginetta Junior series and has gone on to major success with the BTCC.”

Meanwhile Ginetta Championship coordinator Stewart Linn admitted to being envious of the opportunity.

“This is a once in a life time prize” said Linn. “Being a driver myself, I’m chuffed to bits to be able to offer this opportunity to the 2010 champion…and maybe a little bit jealous!”

In 2010 the Ginetta Junior Championship, which is exclusively for drivers aged 14 to 17, switches to the new G40 model. Last year the championship made history when Sarah Moore became the first female champion in the history of the BTCC support packages. Moore is set to defend her crown this season with the YourRacingCar team, putting her in with a chance of testing Jordan’s Vectra come the year’s end.
