Matt Neal elated with double victory
Matt Neal’s delighted to have won two races in a day, beating in one weekend his one win per year average since his title season in 2006.
Matt spoke to TouringCarTimes about the Honda Racing Team’s weekend result.
On acheiving two victories in day, Neal remarked:
“Oh mega, it’s doubled my tally in a year for the last however many years, so do to in one weekend, the cars doing well”.
Ballast was initially blamed for the slow pace of the car in the second race, but Matt explained:
“The ballast didn’t help, but there was a skirmish in turn three on lap one that knocked my steering out, so we were running with a lot of toe-in for the whole race which didn’t help, but we worked with Dunlop for race three and it was a lot stronger”.
On championship leader Jason Plato, and the chances of stopping the Chevrolet driver from taking only his second ever championship in the BTCC, Matt said:
“He’s running strong, but he’s (also) been running with weight every time out, so he’s gonna be a tough customer to beat.”
“The engines running well, the cars running well – but Jason’s a good driver, RML’s a top outfit and they’ve got a good car, so it’s going to be mighty tough”
