Nash & Boardman beg to differ on clash
Series returnee James Nash & Tom Boardman don’t share an opinion on who was responsible on the crash that took the Special Tuning UK SEAT out of race two.
TouringCarTimes spoke to both drivers after the incident.
Tom Boardman placed the blame solely at the Triple Eight driver:
“Struggling for speed, people just kept mullering me and then I got James Nash behind me, just started using me like a brake, and driving not like a racing driver, driving like a guy who thinks he’s in an unbreakable car who can just hit me”
Boardman continued:
“He needs to be warned about it”
“I didn’t realise it was for 10th position, so now I realise why he was so defensive” said Nash.
“He was braking in difficult places and being generally awkward till it got to a point where I had to go around the outside of him and force him to brake late, so he outbraked himself so I ducked underneath in turn two, and he decided to carry on turning in and swivel himself round”
Boardman’s SEAT Leon suffered minor suspension and primarily cosmetic damage, so should start race three.
James Nash will start from 10th place alongside race two winner and former team mate Jason Plato, as the top nine will be reversed.
Matt Neal will therefore start from pole for the final race of the day, with the threat of rain almost certainly gone.
