Plato wins race 2 as BMW bounce back

New championship leader Jason Plato has taken his first win this year, ahead of a trio of BMW’s – winning by just half a second from Rob Collard.

Plato made a lightning start and shot straight ahead of the two Honda Racing Team’s Civic’s at the start, as the Honda’s seemed to struggle under ballast in the sunny conditions.

By the end of lap one, the two Honda’s had fallen back behind Airwaves BMW’s Steven Kane, Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan & Rob Collard, who started 10th on the grid.

As the race progressed, the Honda’s continued to fall back, Neal holding on the hardest, eventually falling back to ninth place at the finish, after the two LPG powered Ford Focus’s managed to move past on the penultimate lap.

Slicks were needed this morning, for this race however what you needed was a BMW, as Mat Jackson and Rob Collard continued to make progress, with Rob Collard forcing Steven Kane into a mistake on lap 13, and went on to close in on Plato, with a very close last lap – but Jason held on for the win, as the two Airwaves BMW’s settled for third and fourth.

James Nash, who crashed out of the first race, had another incident packed race two, fighting for the last few laps with the SEAT of Tom Boardman – after making contact several times, eventually the Triple Eight Vectra dived down the inside of the Leon, taking Boardman out of the race, but escalating Nash into tenth place.
