Showers freshen up Rockingham

An unexpected rain show in the morning has dampened the Rockingham circuit ahead of today’s BTCC races.

BMW drivers are fretting the greasy conditions which are likely to affect race one, whilst more rain is forecast in the afternoon

Rob Collard spoke to TouringCarTimes, saying:
“As usual, the slightly cold/wet greasy conditions don’t favour the BMW’s, we need it to be really really hot sunshine or really really wet – at the moment it’s that horrible inbetween which doesn’t really suit us”.

The team’s will also be running the brand new Dunlop tyres, which were held back from the Thruxton round due the highly abrasive nature of the circuit. The teams have tested the tyres before the season, but this will be their first run in anger.

WSR have also struggled with the tyre, Rob going on to say:
“At the moment I just feel we haven’t got the best from it, obviously the Airwaves are going slightly better over one lap…but over a race distance we’re looking very consistent”.
