Chilton takes Croft pole despite gravel visit
Tom Chilton claimed pole position at Croft despite a visit to the gravel trap in the early part of the qualifying session. The Ford driver claimed pole with just minutes left of the session, demoting previous pole-man Gordon Shedden to second with just 0.077 seconds separating them.
Robert Collard claimed third, close to half a second behind, with youngster Alex MacDowall making it four different manufacturers in the top four places: Ford – Honda – BMW – Chevrolet.
Championship rivals Matt Neal and Jason Plato will be starting right alongside each other with fifth and sixth position respectively. A mere 0.083 seconds separated the both.
Tom Onslow-Cole claimed seventh on the grid ahead of the ever impressive newcomer James Nash in eight.
Paul O’Neill and Andrew Jordan rounded off top ten and were the last two to be within a second of the pole position time.
