First ever BTCC victory for Andrew Jordan

Andrew Jordan claimed his first ever British Touring Car Championship victory in the final race of the weekend at Croft. The victory was the first ever for a NGTC-powered car as well.
“Wow, what a race! The car was mega, I just can’t believe it, fantastic,” said Jordan.

Jordan held the lead from start to finish and crossed the finish line close to eight seconds ahead of Tom Onlsow-Cole.
“It has been a tough day, but we got some points with us. Great stuff,” said Onslow-Cole.

The Team Aon driver had just as Jordan a calm race, but that was not the story for the drivers behind.

Steven Kane emerges as winner of the battle for third, but that was not until a few corners from the finish on the final lap. Paul O’Neill was initially fighting with Tom Boardman for third.

Boardman and O’Neill got alongside each other in the run to the back-straight which resulted in the SEAT-driver going on to the grass. This enabled Steven Kane and Tom Chilton to get past the both.

Kane started from 19th position on the grid and was understandably happy with his third place.
“I just can’t believe it. My team gave me a fantastic car and it was a great race,” said Kane.

Things were worse for title rivals Jason Plato and Matt Neal. Plato suffered from a puncture on the third lap and had to pit for a new rear right tyre, dropping out of contention for any points.

Neal looked set to pull away further in the championship thanks to this. But the Honda driver suffered from the same fate with just four laps left and was forced to retire.

Another driver dropping outside of the points was Rob Collard. The BMW-driver was on the way to the top, getting past both Gordon Shedden and Boardman to third when he suddenly slowed down and pitted.

Neal is still leading the championship with eight points ahead of Plato. Shedden closed in on the duo and is currently 19 points behind.
