MacDowall leads first test session at Snetterton

Alex MacDowall was fastest for the Silverline Chevrolet team in the morning part of the summer break BTCC test session, ahead of Paul O’Neill & team mate Jason Plato.

Chevrolet are the only one of the manufacturer teams at the test, with the championship leading Honda Racing Team skipping the test. Independent teams also not at the test include Special Tuning UK, Pinkney Motorsport & Central Group Racing.

MacDowall set the fastest time around the Norfolk circuit with a lap of 1:11.958, just ahead of independent Paul O’Neill in the Sunshine.co.uk with Techspeed Racing Honda Integra, just one hundredth of a second back, and himself just three-thousandths ahead of Jason Plato.

Sixteen cars took part in the session.

The Ford Focus of Tom Chilton was the fastest through all the speed traps. Team Aon are at Snetterton with their two cars for Chilton & Onslow-Cole only, with Team Principal Mike Earle indicating plans to run a third car from the next round have now been sidelined.
