Plato takes race two victory at Snetterton

Jason Plato has won the second race unchallenged, ahead of the two Team Aon Ford Focus ST’s. Helping to build a championship lead as Honda struggles at the high-speed circuit.

At the start, Mat Jackson, starting second in the Airwaves BMW was unable to get the jump ahead of Plato he was after, and Jason Plato led into the first corner.

Mat looked to be in trouble straight away, with both the Ford Focus’s lining up behind him after a great start from Tom Onslow-Cole to move up to fourth.

James Nash had fallen back however, and as he tried to re-pass Tom Boardman’s SEAT, he pushed the Special Tuning UK car around which was then collected by both of the sunshine.co.uk with Tech-Speed Honda’s of Paul O’Neill & John George, causing the safety car to be deployed to collect the three stricken cars.

On the restart, Plato pulled away, Jackson was struggling to keep with the Chevrolet, and nearly gave away the position to Tom Chilton straight away.

The inevitable happened on lap 8, as Chilton drove past Jackson on the outside into the first corner for second, simultaneously Onslow-Cole slipped down the inside, with Jackson passed on both sides and falling to fourth in one corner.

As Jackson fell back, he held up team mate Kane momentarily, allowing Gordon Shedden up to 5th.

Matt Neal elbowed his way past James Nash’s Vauxhall on lap nine to try and take eighth, the pass on Nash was successful, as Nash was knocked wide, but as Neal was held up, Rob Collard was able to move ahead.

On lap 13, Steven Kane managed to get back ahead of Gordon Shedden who began to fall back, with Andrew Jordan passing him on lap 17 and Collard the next lap.

On lap 14, Steven Kane moved up to fourth as Steven Kane made a mistake, which was where the two Airwaves BMW cars would finish.

No one could catch Plato, the two Ford’s were on their own in second and third, with Tom Onslow-Cole shadowing Tom Chilton but not making a move.

The top ten will be reversed for the final race of the day which will put James Nash, who recovered from the lap one incident to tenth, on pole position ahead of Matt Neal.

Jason Plato will have his work cut out starting tenth, maintaining the maximum ballast he was carrying in race two.
