Plato & Neal preparing for Silverstone Air event

Jason Plato and Matt Neal took part in a promotional wing walk ahead of this weekend’s round of the BTCC, the packed race calendar also adding aerial support at the Silverstone circuit.

The championship battling duo both took turns to be flown around in an aircraft operated by the Breitling Wingwalkers, at Turweston Aerodrome, near Brackley.

The two will resume racing this weekend at Silverstone, a race track built on a WWII airfield itself.

Silverline Chevrolet’s Jason Plato took the lead of the championship last time out at Snetterton, whilst a podium for Matt Neal has kept him in the hunt 20 points behind.

It’s too early to call it a two horse race however, with Team Aon’s Tom Onslow-Cole, Airwaves BMW’s Steven Kane & Honda’s own Gordon Shedden still in the running at the head of the championship.

The Silverstone circuit will be host to rounds 19-21 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, as well as the championship’s usual host of support events from the Porsche Carrera Cup, Ginetta G50 Cup, Renault Clio Cup, Ginetta Junior and Formula Renault UK championships, as well as air displays from the Breitling Wingwalkers, The Red Devils, the RAF’s Red Arrows, Aerostars, a Vulcan bomber, Lancaster bomber, Spitfire and a USAF P51 Mustang.

22 cars are presently scheduled to take part in the BTCC races, with the latest addition of a second SEAT to the championship, run by SpecialTuningUK and YourRacingCar.com for Phil Glew.

Jason Plato will be carrying maximum ballast into the qualifying session and the first race of the weekend.
