Onslow-Cole delighted with Team Aon’s first 1-2

Tom Onslow-Cole is happy to have been a part of Team Aon’s first front row lock out in the BTCC, since Arena Motorsport returned to the championship with the Ford Focus ST last year.

Onslow-Cole was second fastest by a whisker in second free practice to Andrew Jordan, but pulled out almost a full second in qualifying to put the Team Aon Focus on pole for his second time this year.

Tom denies that the team were sandbagging in practice:

“It was just a few little tweaks on the set-up and it all seemed to come together,” said Onslow-Cole to TouringCarTimes.

“It’s a fantastic result for Team Aon, to be 1-2; that’s the first time we’ve done that this year, and it’s just a testament to the hard work they’ve been putting into car.”

The team have been focusing on qualifying set-up through practice however, but hope that won’t hamper them on race day.

Tom Onslow-Cole said:
“We haven’t really done too much race running around here but we seemed to solve that problem at Snet(terton), where the car was quite strong over a race distance. Hopefully we’ll be able to carry that through again.”

“We’re expecting the Chevrolets and the Hondas to be strong over a distance as well, we’ve all seen the dominance of the Chevrolet over a race distance at Snet, so we’ve still got to keep our game up and see what we can do.”
