Triple Eight planning for Carrera Cup GB entry
Triple Eight are finalising their plans to enter Porsche Carrera Cup GB next season.
“Our vast experience in British Touring Cars means that we have the technical expertise as well as the knowledge of all the tracks where the Porsche Carrera Cup GB races,” said Ian Harrison, chairman of Triple Eight.
The team is currently running independent Vauxhall Vectra’s in the British Touring Car Championship as Vauxhall pulled the factory support after 2009.
Carrera Cup GB is introducing a new model for next season, something that has attracted Triple Eight.
“We have been looking at entering this series for a while now and with the introduction of the new model 911 GT3 Cup car for 2011, we feel that the time is right for us to take part in what is a very competitive championship,” said Harrison.
The team has not confirmed any drivers yet for the planned programme, but are expected to do so before the 2010 season end.
Information to TouringCarTimes suggests that other BTCC teams are looking at running programmes in the BTCC support series as well.
