Chilton leads Team Aon 1-2 in qualifying
Tom Chilton has taken pole position for Team Aon at Donington Park, with team mate Tom Onslow-Cole behind him. Gordon Shedden, Jason Plato & Matt Neal complete the top five.
Gordon Shedden was on top for most of the session, as rain continued to threaten the circuit. After a brief red flag period to recover Andy Neate’s BMW at Redgate, the two Fords jumped straight to the top of the timesheets.
Chilton set a 1:11.328 to take his fourth pole position of the season, and will start ahead of a top five made-up of all the main championship protagonists.
Closest to them was Andrew Jordan in the Pirtek Racing Vauxhall Vectra with the NGTC turbo engine, whilst Paul O’Neill put the Honda Integra of Tech-Speed in sixth.
Arthur Forster’s session was also curtailed due to gearbox issues, whilst the Airwaves BMW car of Steven Kane, second in the independents championship, didn’t even go out on track with an undisclosed mechanical problem.
