Kane on back foot after mechanical issues

Steven Kane will start dead last for race one after a combination of gearbox and engine issues struck the team at the start of qualifying, but Kane, second in the independents category, expects to battle through on race day.

Kane, is 22 points behind Tom Onslow-Cole in the independent drivers’ championship heading into tomorrows race, and with Onslow-Cole starting second, is set to struggle to close the gap this weekend.

“We had a bit of a problem with the gearbox just selecting gears. The guys took it out, did a bit of a check on it and put it back together with a new mechanism to help me change gear, and we went to start the car up, we then had an engine limiter problem all at the same time” explained Kane to TouringCarTimes.

“The guys worked tremendously hard, but there wasn’t enough time to get it done – when we went to start the car up, it wouldn’t select gear properly and we had to take the box out in the middle of the session.”

Steven Kane has battled from the back of the pack several times before this season, and is getting set to do the same tomorrow.

“We’ll have to kick up a gear tomorrow. We know we’re fast as the second session was really quite good for us and we didn’t have new tyres. If things went how they should have went in qualifying, we should have been fourth of fifth place.”
