Special Tuning confirms two SEAT entry

Special Tuning Racing is going to run two SEAT León’s with NGTC engines in the British Touring Car Championship next year.
“We are taking the 2011 season very seriously, the team firmly has its sights set on winning the independents’ title next year and with the highly experienced engineering team we have behind us combined with the Leon chassis and NGTC engine we think this is a very achievable target,” said team boss John Boardman.

The team ran one SEAT León for Tom Boardman in the BTCC this year. For 2011 the team is going to use the latest specification León chassis with the new NGTC engine.

“The team had a challenging season in 2010 using the underpowered S2000 engine, so we have taken the decision to use an NGTC engine, this fitted to the Leon chassis, which is highly developed and proven, will give us the engine performance required to compete for the independent’s title in 2011, and battle for race wins,” said team boss John Boardman.

The team is not going to use the series provided NGTC engines from Swindon Engines, but rather develop their own with a yet to be announced engine builder.

“We are working with a very successful engine builder on the project, the engine is due to run for the first time next week and we will then begin an intensive test programme both in the UK and Spain, this will ensure we are competitive from the start of next years championship,” said Boardman.

The two drivers for next year are not confirmed yet.
