Special Tuning aiming at four SEATs for 2011

SEAT team Special Tuning UK is hoping to expand their efforts in the British Touring Car Championship 2011 to as many as four cars. The team recently bought a fourth SEAT Léon and is preparing to fit all four cars with the new NGTC engine.

“Due to the high level of interest in our 2011 BTCC programme, using the Leon and our new SEAT TFSI NGTC engine combination, we felt it necessary to obtain this additional chassis as we believe this is going to be a very competitive package. This now gives Special Tuning Racing the capability of running up to four cars,” said team boss John Boardman to btcc.net.

One driver is reported to have signed for the team already, most likely Tom Boardman, while the three remaining seats are up for grabs.

The team is aiming high for the BTCC 2011 season and an intensive testing program is planned, starting with three days in Spain.

“We are taking the 2011 season very seriously, the team firmly has its sights set on winning the Independents title next year and, with the highly experienced engineering team we have behind us combined with the Leon chassis and NGTC engine, we think this is a very achievable target,” said Boardman.
