James shakes down Lacetti at Donington

BTCC newcomer Chris James has given his new Team ES Racing Lacetti a shakedown run at the Donington Park circuit in Leicestershire on Tuesday.

The former MINI Challenge driver familiarised himself with the Lacetti, the car which came close to winning the 2009 British Touring Car Championship in the hands of Jason Plato.

James was running in the session on used Yokohama tyres which had come with the car from the Swedish Touring Car Championship.

“It was a tricky start to the day” said James.

“But as the track dried off in the afternoon I was more comfortable with the car and could settle in to the task ahead.”

James’s best lap was a 1:13.8 at Donington’s National Circuit, 2.5 seconds down on Tom Chilton’s pole position lap of last year, but which was set in better conditions.
