Nash aiming to be the top Vectra driver

James Nash qualified fourth in a day where the Vectras have been looking strong against the manufacturer backed Honda and Chevrolets, and hopes to be the top Vectra runner on race day.

After qualifying in fourth place, splitting the two Silverline Chevrolet Cruzes, Nash was delighted with the pace considering the limited running so far in testing for Triple Eight.

“We’ve got a little bit of work to do on the car still,” said Nash.

“There’s still some in me too, just getting to grips with the extra power and just slowing that weight down. Jordan (P2) has obviously shown what it can do, so he’s our benchmark really.”

“I’d like to be the first Vectra home, that’s always got to be the first goal…we’re at the right end of the grid to start with so that’s a positive.

The team’s had limited testing so far, getting it’s first full run last week the media day test and two short tests earlier in the week, and Nash highlights that’s a concern for the team.

“We’ve got an unknown entity going into the race, as we’ve not done many race runs, well, we’ve done two, so we’ve got a lot to work out really.”
