Nash in the top three after great weekend

James Nash picked up his best ‘official’ race result in race one, finishing second to Jason Plato and put on strong drives in the remaining races to come out with third in the standings.

Nash also picked up the first independents’ class victory of the season, before Motorbase Performance driver Mat Jackson took the two class wins in races two and three.

On his race one result, Nash was delighted to have shown great pace, closing in on Plato in the final stages.

“We had a few of our own issues at the beginning, but it went really well. Dogged Jason (Plato) the whole way.”

“We were pulling away from the others, the tyres felt good at the end and we set fastest lap.”

Nash finished a strong fourth place in race two.

In race three, Nash and independent rival Mat Jackson made contact at the start, with the Triple Eight-driver losing ground and falling to 11th place, but recovered passing Dave Newsham, team-mate Tony Gilham, Tom Chilton and Rob Collard to finish in sixth, again chasing Plato to the line.

Nash is just three points behind class leader Mat Jackson in the independents’ standings, and third place overall in the championship ahead of the two works Hondas after a mixed weekend for last year’s manufacturers champions.
