Ex-BTCC drivers to race in British GT Championship
Several ex-BTCC drivers have found a new home in the British GT championship for the 2011 season, including favourites Anthony Reid and Steven Kane.
The British sportscar series which is promoted by SRO, which also run the FIA GT1 World Championship, features several top level BTCC drivers in its fold for this year.
Among them are two ex-Motorbase Performance drivers. Steven Kane, who came close to winning the independents title for the team last season, will compete in a Ferrari F430 along with ex-Belgian Touring Car driver Iain Dockerill for Dockerill’s Chad Racing team.
Top BTCC rookie in 2009 and former SEAT Cupra champion Jonathan Adam has also found a berth in the series, racing for the Beechdean Motorsport team in an Aston Martin DBRS9.
Anthony Reid, famous for racing for West Surrey Racing in their MG days and current champions RML in the Supertouring nineties era in a Nissan Primera, will compete in a Chevron GR8.
Another driver taking part in this year’s British GT championship with Supertouring BTCC heritage is John Bintcliffe, who raced for Audi between 1996 and 1998. Bintcliffe will be racing in an Audi R8 LMS run by United Autosports.
The British GT championship gets underway at the Easter weekend, with the first race of the season on Easter Monday, April 25th.
