Jordan leads the way in Donington Free Practice 1

Andrew Jordan has continued to show strong pace, topping his third consecutive practice session at Donington Park in the Eurotech Racing Vauxhall Vectra ahead of rival Vauxhall James Nash.

Jordan also broke the circuit’s lap record, and was the only driver under 1:11, with a best lap of 1:10.843.

Nash was just under three-tenths of a second adrift in the Triple Eight Vectra, which is also carrying 27kg of ballast. Gordon Shedden finished third in the Honda Civic which is carrying 18kg of penalty ballast.

The top Super 2000 specification car was Alex MacDowall in ninth, over a second down on the leading Vauxhall of Jordan.

All 23 cars on the event’s entry list took part in the session, with Rob Austin setting 18 laps in the NGTC-specification Audi A4 and Frank Wrathall completing 20 laps in the Dynojet Racing Toyota Avensis.

Austin ended up 21st of the 23 runners in the Audi’s first official appearance in the championship.
