Nash leads second free practice at Donington Park
James Nash has led the second free practice session for Triple Eight, ahead of Tom Chilton and Tom Boardman.
Nash becomes the first driver other than Andrew Jordan to lead a practice session this year, but the car’s the same, with the Swindon-engined Vauxhall Vectra still the fastest car/engine combination.
Tom Chilton was second fastest in Arena Motorsport’s new Ford Focus just five-hundredths down, with Tom Boardman again showing good pace, third fastest in the Special Tuning Racing SEAT.
Andrew Jordan was fourth quickest, with Gordon Shedden the fastest of the manufacturer entries in fifth.
Alex MacDowall’s final lap put him top of the drivers in all-Super 2000 machinery, putting his Chevrolet Cruze in eighth place, with team-mate and championship leader Jason Plato down in 12th, 1.1 seconds down on Nash’s time.
Chris James ended in the session in the gravel trap in the ES Racing Chevrolet Lacetti, which disrupted a few drivers’ final runs in the last few moments.
Of the full-NGTC runners, Frank Wrathall was fastest in 19th, 2.7s off the pace, with Rob Austin and Tony Hughes the two slowest cars in the session, both setting slower times than they had in Free Practice 1.
