Boardman and James reconcile after crash
Tom Boardman and Chris James have settled their differences after a crash in qualifying saw both drivers out early and their cars having to be repaired overnight.
Boardman ended up 12th in qualifying in the Special Tuning Racing SEAT after the collision, though his Free Practice 2 time would have been good enough for fifth on the grid.
“I’ve come out the pits and seen them two behind me, Neate and James, come round Redgate no issue,” explained Boardman.
“I’d seen them, so I pulled to the inside to let them both past, and the next minute I’ve seen James pull into the middle of the track to overtake Andy Neate, and I’m there and he’s just clipped my front wheel.”
Chris James’ ES Racing Lacetti returned to the pits with heavy damage and also had to miss the rest of the session.
“He’s spoken to me now and apologised and said he didn’t judge the distance really,” added Boardman.
“The problem is he’s not been on the pace all weekend, and I’ve been on the pace and I could have had an easy top five, and that is the frustrating thing.”
