Turbos get boost reduction for Thruxton
All cars powered by the Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) specification 2.0 litre turbo engine will get a 0.1 bar boost reduction for the next race meeting at Thruxton.
The sporting regulations for 2011-2012 promise matched performance between cars complying to the Super 2000 Article 263 Appendix J regulations (World Touring Cars), and those cars which are running the new BTCC NGTC engine in either their Super 2000 chassis or the new NGTC cars (Toyota & Audi teams).
After two race meetings, BTCC organisers TOCA have concluded that the NGTC-engined cars have a performance advantage over those teams running to Super 2000 regulations, and have mandated a 0.1 bar reduction in maximum boost heading into the high-speed Thruxton circuit.
Each car’s top recorded boost levels measured over the Donington Park weekend will be used as the benchmark for the adjustment, effectively implementing an equal reduction in performance across all of the cars with engines running to NGTC specifications.
The teams unaffected by the change are Silverline Chevrolet, Tech-Speed Motorsport, West Surrey Racing, Geoff Steel Racing and Team ES Racing.
