Second consecutive victory for Matt Neal
Matt Neal secured a second straight victory in the second British Touring Car Championship race at Croft. The Honda driver crossed the line 0.991 seconds ahead of Rob Collard.
Collard started third but managed to out-drag Mat Jackson for the first corner. The BMW man was close to Neal throughout the race, but never close enough for an attack.
Jackson initially held third but dropped down the order to fifth. Gordon Shedden was the first to get past Jackson. Andrew Jordan got past a couple of laps later and continued to hunt down Shedden.
Jordan managed to get past Shedden with just two laps left in the third corner of the track.
The safety car was brought out once in the race due to Tom Boardman hitting the tyres in the fast chicane and destroying his front suspension.
Reigning champion Jason Plato had a nightmare race, retiring on lap eleven out of 18 due to what seemed to be a broken driveshaft.
Another Chevrolet driver forced in to retirement was Paul O’Neill. The Techspeed driver got on the inside of Tom Chilton in the final corner of the lap. The two made contact in the exit of the corner, resulting in a spin and a broken suspension for O’Neill.
Chilton carried on to finish sixth ahead of Nick Foster and David Newsham.
