Chen does the double at Sepang

Chen Jun San took victory in Round 6 of the Asian Touring Car Series, whilst Paul Poon in second wraps up the Hong Kong Touring Car Championship for China Dragon Racing.

Chen won the race with his Team AAI/Buddy Club Racing Honda Civic, which was halted by a red flag after Perajun Krishnan crashed out with an apparent brake failure.

Chen had opted not to wear his cool suit for race two, which turned out to be unlucky for him when the red flag was waved.

“The second race was very hard for me,” said Chen.

“In the first race, the Safety Car period helped to cool my tyres down but this second race with the pace car and stop was terrible for me as I didn’t have my cool suit on. So it was very hot, I was burning.”

Paul Poon finished second again in his Chevrolet Lacetti, and came back from four points down on Eric Kwong to win the HTCC which holds its last event here.

” I had a good start and managed to overtake Eric and stay in front of him. I drove my best and won the Championship.”

The next round of the Asian Touring Car Series is on July 23rd-24th at the Sentul Circuit in Indonesia.
