Shedden takes victory and championship lead
Gordon Shedden won the second race in front of his home crowd at Knockhill with team mate Matt Neal securing a Honda 1-2. Frank Wrathall claimed his first and the first ever NGTC podium finish in third.
Tom Chilton had pole position and held the lead at the start. But the Ford driver lost three positions after a big slide, handing over the lead to Neal.
But Neal’s lead only lasted briefly as Shedden managed to get up alongside and get past thanks to a stronger exit out of the chicane.
The safety car was brought out once during the race due to Martin Byford going off, planting his Volkswagen Golf in the tyre barriers of the final corner.
Chilton finished fourth at the end, with Rob Collard fifth and Tom Boardman sixth.
James Nash and Jason Plato had a fight, just as in the previous race, for seventh with Nash going past first, but Plato taking the position back later in the race. Plato is going to start from pole position in the third race.
Andrew Jordan and Nick Foster rounded off top ten.
Former championship leader Mat Jackson had yet another tough race and had to retire on lap eight. The Ford driver went off track in the chicane and entered the pits with left front damage.
