Boardman keeps Knockhill victory

Special Tuning Racing driver Tom Boardman has retained his first career victory in the BTCC from two weeks ago at Knockhill after a stewards decision this morning, but will drop six places on the grid for today’s race.

Boardman was under investigation for the contact in the final race at Knockhill, after Plato and Boardman were battling for the lead, with contact between resulting in Jason Plato going off track and into the barriers.

Boardman then held off West Surrey Racing’s Rob Collard to take both his and the team’s first BTCC victory, though the incident was still pending investigation by the stewards, which was originally scheduled for yesterday evening until Matt Neal’s and Jason Plato’s contretemps in the pits after qualifying took priority.

The race result of Knockhill race three remains unchanged, which means Tom Boardman keeps his debut win, but has still been found responsible for the contactt and punished with three points on his competition licence, a £1,000 fine and a six-place grid drop, which will put him in 23rd place for the first race of the day at Rockingham.
