Plato tops timesheets in interrupted FP2 at Oulton Park
After topping the timesheets in FP1, Jason Plato was again fastest in the final free practice session at Oulton Park. The Triple Eight Race Engineering driver set a time of 1:27.426 on a dry circuit while carrying full success ballast.
Motorbase Performance’s Mat Jackson, who finished FP1 in second, caused a red flag before the first fastest time was posted after making contact with the barriers at Cascades. Jackson sat the rest of the session out due to the significant damage sustained. Ollie Jackson caused the second red flag of the session after an off at Cascades in his AMD Tuning VW. This saw the session ended early, with 9 minutes 50s left on the clock, in order to repair the barrier.
Honda Yuasa Racing’s Matt Neal led a trio of NGTC Honda Civics to finish the session in second ahead of his team mate in fourth, with Eurotech Racing’s Andrew Jordan in third. Rob Collard finished in fifth for West Surrey Racing.
Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Andy Neate finished in sixth. His NGTC MG6 had to be transported back to pit lane at the end of the session after an off, with the car sustaining heavy right rear damage. Adam Morgan equalled his FP1 finishing position, setting the seventh fastest time for Speedworks Motorsport. Eurotech Racing’s Jeff Smith finished in eighth ahead of Motorbase Performance’s Aron Smith. Frank Wrathall rounded out the top ten for Dynojet.
Qualifying for the first race is due to take place at 14:50 UK time and will be broadcast live on the internet by ITV.
