Andrew Jordan leads Honda top three in FP1 at Croft
Andrew Jordan was fastest of all in the first free practice session at Croft, leading the two works Hondas of Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal.
The session was hit by a sprinkling of rain just as it began, but the conditions were generally dry throughout the 40 minute session. Andrew Jordan set his best time, a time of 1:24.835, which is just short of the qualifying lap record, half way through the session. Jordan’s lap was eight tenths of a second faster than that of Gordon Shedden who is running with maximum ballast this weekend as the championship leader.
Matt Neal set very few timed laps, but his second timed run was good enough to pop him up into third place.
Dave Newsham was the fastest of the non-Honda drivers, fourth overall in the Team ES Racing Vauxhall Vectra and the quickest of the S2000 cars with NGTC engines.
Rob Collard was fifth quickest in the West Surrey Racing BMW 320si, with Jason Plato sixth in the Triple Eight MG6 GT.
Adam Morgan improved on his final run in the Speedworks Toyota to go seventh fastest, whilst new team-mate Paul O’Neill was 21st and set the fewest number of laps, stopping on track late in the session with an unknown problem.
The next session takes place at 11:50.
