Gordon Shedden fastest in FP1 at Knockhill
Gordon Shedden was fastest of all in the first practice session at Knockhill in the Honda Civic, faster than Tom Chilton’s pole position time from last year.
The West Surrey Racing BMWs and Shedden’s Honda swapped times at the top for much of the session, with Shedden the first to set a competitive fastest overall time in the Civic, before first Rob Collard and then Tom Onslow-Cole improved to take the point.
Shedden left it till the last five minutes to go out and blast past Chilton’s pole time of 52.999 set last year, to go quickest of all with a time of 52.944, the only driver in the 52s.
Behind the West Surrey Racing BMWs, Paul O’Neill had a strong session in the Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Avensis and was fourth fastest, with Andrew Jordan fifth in the Eurotech Racing Honda Civic.
Dan Welch missed the first half of the session in the Proton Persona with an oil leak, but was able to set 12 laps late in the session and go 15th fastest.
Jason Plato was sixth fastest in the Triple Eight MG, with Championship leader Matt Neal down in 14th, 1.2 seconds off the pace.
The next practice session takes place at 12:10 BST.
