Jason Plato wins Rockingham race one

Jason Plato headed the first BTCC race at Rockingham from lights to flag. The MG driver won the race ahead of Andrew Jordan in second and Gordon Shedden in third.

Mat Jackson made the strongest start of the drivers and was close to Plato on the opening lap. But the Ford driver was quickly passed by the Honda duo of Jordan and Shedden.

Rob Collard made a fine charge through the field from eighth on the grid to fifth in the end ahead of Matt Neal, who drove with a broken hand.

Andy Neate crossed the line as seventh after dropping two positions towards the end, ahead of Tom Onslow-Cole in eighth and Rob Austin in ninth. Nick Foster was the final driver in to the top ten.
