Shedden: “A much better weekend than expected”
Gordon Shedden took over the championship lead from team mate Matt Neal after two victories at a wet Rockhingham, a result the Scot did not expect.
“That was a much better weekend than we expected. If you get two one-twos it’s a good weekend!” said Shedden.
Shedden was not only fighting rival MG driver Jason Plato, who won the first race, on track at Rockhingham but also team mate Neal.
“We went side-by-side through Turn 1 at Rockingham in the wet! That shows how much we trust each other,” said Shedden.
Neal, who drove the three races with a broken hand, was just as Shedden not expecting such a strong weekend.
“After qualifying it looked ominous and I thought we would really lose a chunk of our points lead. The MG was strong all day, but the wet plays to our strengths,” said Neal.
Shedden heads the championship by just three points over Neal, with Honda heading the manufacturers’ and teams’ table comfortably.
“We had three very strong finishes for the manufacturers’ and teams’ championships, and it hasn’t done me or Gordon any harm either,” said Neal.
