Hot rod champ Carl Boardley eyes BTCC 2013

Hot rod champion Carl Boardley is aiming to join the BTCC next year and will test for Speedworks this week.
“My aim of getting on to the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship grid is a serious one and is a priority in terms of assembling the budget required,” said Boardley to btcc.net.

Boardley is going to test at Snetterton on Friday, driving the NGTC Toyota Avensis of Speedworks Motorsport.
“Christian and Amy Dick at Speedworks Motorsport have been extremely helpful in discussing my options for next year and we are already in talks with some major companies to get our budget together. The chance to work with a professional team is something we are all extremely excited about,” said Boardley.

Dave Newsham and Lea Wood also tested for the Toyota team last week and team manager Christian Dick explains:
“Next year will mark our third season in the BTCC and we’ve certainly grown as a team in 2012 in terms of size, confidence and results. Interest in the BTCC is growing all the time as is the desire among new drivers to race the newer, more spectacular NGTC machines so why not look at the options available in the ‘off-season’? Last week we tried two experienced and very good touring car drivers in Dave and Lea as we evaluate our plans for 2013. Now we’re looking forward to seeing how Carl, extremely successful in another form of motor sport, gets on in a BTCC car,” said Dick.
