Andy Neate will run NGTC Cruze with new team

Andy Neate is going to run an NGTC specification Chevrolet Cruze under his own newly formed team IP Tech Race Engineering in the 2013 British Touring Car Championship.
“Competing successfully in the BTCC is so much more about the people behind the doors and not necessarily the name above it. I felt the timing was right to take advantage of the experience I’ve gained as a driver and the global recognition have earned as a chief technical officer of engineering,” said Neate.

“Coupling these attributes with the collective of the best people around me that I could hope for, suggests success cannot be far away,” said Neate.

The initial construction work of the Cruze has been done by RML while IP Tech Race Engineering is going to complete the car on their own. The Cruze used by the team is of saloon model and it is going to be equipped with an NGTC specification Chevrolet engine, also constructed by RML.
“I have absolutely no concerns at all either about the build quality and strength of the Cruze. RML, who have run Chevrolet’s title-winning World Touring Car programme for the past eight years, have fabricated the car, although we will do the rest ourselves. We’re certainly going to town on perfecting the aerodynamics side of things,” said Neate to btcc.net.

The team is planning to expand to a second Cruze later in the year, but focus on one car for Neate initially.
“We will build two cars this season but the priority is to get the first car up to speed and reliable so I can do myself justice. The new workshop is top notch and everything about this project already shouts ‘success'” said Neate.
