Adam Morgan says consistency is key for 2013

Adam Morgan says consistency is the key after returning to his family team for his second season of British Touring Car Championship competition.

The 24-year-old from Lancashire has left Speedworks Motorsport to run with Ciceley Racing, using the NGTC Toyota Avensis chassis driven by Frank Wrathall in 2011.

Morgan’s team is the same one which ran him to the Ginetta GT Supercup title in 2011, which in turn landed him a prize drive in the 2012 BTCC. He is hoping to iron out the errors which hampered the 2012 campaign, and become a consistent points scorer.

Speaking to TouringCarTimes at the Autosport International Show, Morgan said: “We are starting the build on Monday with all the 2013 parts. It is like a brand new car and should be ready by the end of January.
“We will hopefully get as many [tests] as we can. We want to get out there and get the car set up and race-ready by media day, so we are not having to do any development work over the season.”

On his decision to switch to a family-run team, Morgan said: “It is basically what we did in Ginettas – a family-run team. We had an awesome season.
“We have gone for the same sort of thing – nice and simple, small team, and hopefully it all works well.”

It is an environment Morgan hopes will enable him to flourish in 2013, after a mixed 2012.
“The results last year were not what I was expecting at all. Pace-wise we were OK but I just want to be a lot more consistent, without the mistakes I made.

“Touring cars is touring cars, you are going to get the bump ‘n’ grind no matter where you go. I have learnt a lot, and think I have developed myself a lot, so I think it will be good.
“There is nobody I am aiming for, I just want to do my own thing, be competitive and go from there.”
