Andrew Jordan leads Honda 1-2-3 in second practice

Eurotech Racing’s Andrew Jordan set a searing pace in second practice at Thruxton, ahead of team-mate Jeff Smith and Honda Racing Team’s Matt Neal.

The Honda Civic driver finished more than 0.4s clear of Smith after setting his best lap of 1.17.811 around half distance, in an eventful session where he also suffered a puncture, driveshaft damage and a huge spin at the fearsome Church corner.

Neal recovered to third after an technical problem saw him pull off the circuit early on in the session, causing a red flag.

Adam Morgan continued his impressive form in fourth in the Ciceley Racing Toyota Avensis, ahead of Triple Eight MG’s Jason Plato, who also suffered a puncture.

Tom Onslow-Cole caught the eye in the Tony Gilham Racing Volkswagen CC in sixth, ahead of Sam Tordoff, Colin Turkington, Rob Collard and Dave Newsham. Onslow-Cole also set the joint-highest number of laps, with 20.

Reigning champion Gordon Shedden was down in 13th, while Motorbase Performance’s struggles continued, with Mat Jackson and Aron Smith in 12th and 14th respectively.

Motorbase stable-mate Liam Griffin was the fastest Jack Sears Trophy runner in his Ford Focus, finishing 20th overall.

Any last-minute improvements were prevented when Jack Goff’s Tony Gilham Racing Vauxhall Insignia pulled off at the chicane with an apparent technical problem.

Dan Welch was the only man not to run in the session, his Welch Motorsport Proton Persona remaining in the awning with brake issues.
