Andrew Jordan happy despite ending weekend in medical centre

Eurotech Racing’s Andrew Jordan left Snetterton delighted to have closed the gap to series leader Matt Neal – despite a post-event visit to the medical centre after inhaling exhaust fumes from his Honda Civic.

Jordan finished fifth in the first race, before taking victory in the second, and battling to seventh in the third, after damage caused his car to fill with exhaust fumes.

He now closes to within nine points of series leader Matt Neal – and also maintains a 34-point lead over Colin Turkington in the independents’ standings.

Speaking to TouringCarTimes after the third race, Jordan said: “I am a bit spaced out to be honest. I went to the medical centre after the race because in turn one I had contact, and the exhaust got pushed up. I’ve been on oxygen.

“There were fumes in the car and the pedals were red hot.

“But it was a good day. Matt [Neal] has done very well – I thought he was out of the race in race three, and he finished one place behind.

“To be honest, I didn’t drive as well as I normally do in that race, because I was distracted.

“It was good to get a win in race two and be right up there again. We’ve closed the gap. To score more points is good.”

West Surrey Racing protested the result of the second race, when Jordan made contact with Turkington while challenging for the lead.

But Jordan was unrepentant.

He said: “I’m absolutely fine in what I did with the move on Colin. He ran a bit wide, I got underneath him and he came completely over on me.

“I was on the grass. I can’t disappear if I’m in the gap. Why should I back out when I have got the overlap? That is how I look at it.”
