Gordon Shedden leads second free practice at Knockhill

Reigning British Touring Car champion Gordon Shedden was fastest of all at his home circuit of Knockhill in the second free practice session, with Cicely Racing’s Adam Morgan second fastest again with Triple Eight’s Jason Plato third quickest.

Jason Plato was on top of the time sheets throughout much of the first half of the session, with the two Hondas then coming to the fore, with Matt Neal first setting the new benchmark shortly followed by Shedden, who continued t improve his time to end up fastest at the end of the session with a time of 52.582.

Adam Morgan was just over a tenth of a second down on Shedden, and the fastest of the independent drivers in his Cicely Toyota Avensis, setting his best time late in the session, with Jason Plato improving to third just as the session ended, a quarter of a second down on Shedden’s time.

Eurotech Racing’s Andrew Jordan and Honda’s Matt Neal completed the top five, with Plato’s team-mate Sam Tordoff sixth and Tom Onslow-Cole the fastest of all the Tony Gilham Racing drivers in seventh.

Rob Austin Racing got both of their Audi A4s in the top ten, whilst West Surrey Racing dropped back compared to their FP1 pace, where all three of their BMW 125is were in the top 11. Collard was the fastest of the team’s drivers in 11th, with Colin Turkington 14th and Nick Foster down in 18th.

Motorbase Performance’s Liam Griffin had a minor off at the chicane but was able to rejoin the session later on. Not taking part in the session was Speedworks’ Dave Newsham, whose car is being repaired after a suspension failure in FP1, and Finesse Motorsport’s Aiden Moffat, who has suffered an engine problem.

The next session is qualifying which gets under way at 15:05 BST.
