Dan Welch in pain after 6.5G head-on crash
Dan Welch was left smarting after a hefty head-on collision put him out of the Rockingham weekend – and left him laid up on his sofa with a fracture pelvis.
The Welch Motorsport driver started 15th on the grid in race one in his Proton Persona, but didn’t get further than Gracelands on lap one.
He was spun around and then collected by Andy Neate’s IP Tech Race Chevrolet, putting him out of the rest of the day, and causing damage to driver as well as car.
Speaking to TouringCarTimes, Welch said: “It was 6.5G head on collision. It did hurt at the time. It is one of those things – it’s annoying, and it’s ruined the day.
“I can’t sit down – all I was told is that it’s going to hurt tomorrow.”
Welch later tweeted: “A pelvic fracture to the coccyx is VERY painful!!! Just so you know”.
