Motorbase test three rookies at Snetterton

Motorbase Performance tested at Snetterton yesterday (Wednesday) with three young rookie drivers who’ve been succcessful in the BTCC support package championships this season.

24-year-old Dan Cammish, who dominated the Formula Ford UK championship this season, 17-year-old Formula Ford UK runner-up Harrison Scott and Josh Files, the Renault Clio Cup UK champion, all sampled the Kent team’s Ford Focus ST Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) at the Norfolk circuit, as part of an initiative organised by tyre supplier Dunlop.

The drivers all received guidance from regular BTCC racer Tom Onslow-Cole, who joined the team part way through the 2013 season.

“Today has been brilliant,” said Dan Cammish. “We managed to get five or six laps in during the morning before getting a race run in the afternoon and it was exactly how I imagined it to be honest! I felt really comfortable in the car by the end of the run and the speed was there too which was encouraging.”

Team Principal David Bartrum added: “For me, it was a good test. Having two champions and one runner up we expected a high level of ability based on where they’ve all come from; but to be thrown straight in at the deep end and step into the Focus NGTC showing the speed and ability they did, away from their areas of expertise, just shows where their talents lie. All three drivers did very well and impressed the whole team.

“The day was great testament to Dunlop tyres and another show of the level of support and commitment that they show to the BTCC package as a whole; and Airwaves Racing is very proud to have been a part of it.”
