Penalty for Collard, Austin inherits second

Rob Austin has been promoted to second in the results of the second race at Oulton Park, following a post-race penalty for Rob Collard.

The duo were involved in an incident under the safety car, when West Surrey Racing’s Collard slowed and was passed by Austin’s Audi A4.

Austin let Collard re-pass him, but the stewards ruled that Austin’s original overtake was legitimate, as he passed the BMW before the safety car boards.

As a result, Collard’s re-pass was ruled to be illegal, and the pair’s positions have been switched.

The stewards also ruled that Alain Menu was at fault for an incident with Andrew Jordan at Cascades, which caused Jordan to lose a number of positions. Their positions were also switched, meaning Jordan’s Honda Civic moves up to 10th and Menu’s Volkswagen CC drops to 11th.

The stewards are also investigating Menu’s clash with Fabrizio Giovanardi at Knickerbrook, but have postponed their deliberations until after the final race.
