Tom Ingram to tackle hillclimb in BTCC Avensis
He’s turned more than a few heads in his debut season in the BTCC – now Tom Ingram is set to do the same when he tackles a hillclimb in his Toyota Avensis at the start of the summer break.
The 20-year-old will be one of the star turns at the Harewood Hillclimb, the eighth outing of the 2014 MSA British Hillclimb Championship, on Sunday, July 6.
Harewood is the longest hillclimb in mainland UK at 1,440m, and Ingram says he can’t wait to put the Avensis through its paces in a unique competitive environment.
He said: “I’ve always looked at hillclimbing and thought it would be awesome fun to have a go – but I honestly never thought I would get the opportunity. To go to Harewood and have a blast up the hill in the BTCC car will be massively exciting – if not a little terrifying – and I’m looking forward to it immensely.”
Tickets for the event are £10 on the gate. Practice begins at 09.30 BST, with timed runs in the afternoon. More information is available on the Harewood Hill website.
