Alain Menu says fourth was possible in the Team BMR VW

Alain Menu qualified in eighth position for the first of today’s races at the Rockingham circuit, after running as high as third in the early part of the session. The Team BMR Volkswagen driver says the top four was possible, but believes the team still need to find more performance from the car in order to compete at the front.

“It’s a shame because on my second outing we put two new tyres on the front, because we know here we have too much understeer,” said Menu to TouringCarTImes. “It could have been a better lap but I think it was (Glynn) Geddie who didn’t get out of the way early enough, and I’m sure that cost me fourth place as I would have been a tenth faster. It’s a shame, but I’m pleased with what I did.”

“I won’t say I’m happy, as I’ll be happy when we can be in the top three all the time. OK, Aron (Smith) won races, but it was thanks to the reverse grid, but on pace we’re not there, but I’m happy with the team, it’s a good team and it was always going to take time to put things into place, but team wise they’re great lads, I really like them.”
