“No issues whatsoever” for Gordon Shedden in FP1
Gordon Shedden says there were no issues with his car during the opening session of the 2015 British Touring Car season, and was just using the time to bed in the new car.
The 2012 champion was at the bottom of the time sheets at the end of FP1 some eleven seconds behind the fastest time of Tom Ingram, while team-mate Matt Neal set the second fastest time in the new Honda Racing Team Civic Type R.
“There were absolutely no problems with the car whatsoever,” Shedden told TouringCarTimes. “Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief, we were just scrubbing in the tyres.
“We just need to get some laps in in FP2 but the track dried right at the end for the last five minutes we just elected to save the tyres and hopefully it dries for FP2 and we can make the best use of them then.”
Shedden was confident both cars will be at the sharp end come the end of FP2 and qualifying, and that the laps at the end of the opening session were more of a lottery of who could get their lap in latest with the trying tarmac.
“We should be there or there abouts with what Matt’s done,” Shedden added. “But that session was just last lap wonder whoever was on track at the very end got the lap.”
