Mike Bushell suffers severe ligament damage in qualifying crash
Mike Bushell has been diagnosed with severe ligament damage following his accident with Simon Belcher at Thruxton.
Bushell collided with Belcher on the high-speed run from Allard to Campbell, causing extensive damage to the driver’s side of the AmD Tuning Ford Focus, resulting in Bushell having to exit the car from the passenger door.
The emergency crews were quickly on the scene before Bushell was transferred to the circuit medical centre and later to hospital in Southampton for further checks, later diagnosed with severe ligament damage.
“The most important thing is that Mike has escaped more serious injury as a result of the accident,” said AmD Tuning team boss Shaun Hollamby. “While it’s a disappointing way for our weekend to finish, I’d like to put on record my thanks to the marshals and medical teams who were on hand for their fantastic response to the incident. As is always the case, they did a brilliant job in dealing with the situation.”
