Jason Plato continues to lead the field in FP2

Jason Plato once again topped the timing sheets during practice at Oulton Park, although this time could not match his pace from the opening session.

The Team BMR driver was once again the only man to get in to the 1:25 bracket, posting a time of 1:25.968, three tenths of a second slower than the time that took him to the head of the field in FP1.

The session began relatively slowly, with no real representative times being set in the opening ten minutes. Andy Priaulx topped the standings, steadily improving throughout until Andrew Jordan jumped to the top with a time of 1:26.312 at around the ten minute mark.

Jordan’s MG team-mate Jack Goff soon put himself in third, closely followed by Adam Morgan and Gordon Shedden. Plato then made his first flying lap in the Volkswagen CC, jumping straight in to third position.

With his next lap Plato put in his 1:25.968 lap, a time that would not be beaten for the remainder of the session. Soon after Plato went to the top the red flag came out owing to yellow flags in sector one.

After a short break of two to three minutes the session went green again, but there was to be no real improvement in lap times since the red flag. The only notable improvements came from Tom Ingram, Jack Goff and Colin Turkington, who took fourth to sixth respectively, behind Plato, Jordan and Priaulx. Aron Smith, Matt Neal, Adam Morgan and Gordon Shedden rounded out the top ten.

Meanwhile, there were issues for Alex Martin, who found himself stranded in the middle of the pitlane when his brakes seized on, causing a temporary pitlane chicane.
